9补充剂Psoriatic Disease

byJulie Cerrone Croner Patient Advocate

A few monthsback, I received a really great question asking if I believed an排除饮食helped me manage my psoriatic arthritis. The answer to that question is a resounding yes! But it isn’t the only thing I use to manage my psoriatic arthritis.

What I'm actually referring to when I say this is supplements - and I’ll be the first to admit, that I take a ton of them (Want to know all of them? Check out this post). While I do believe that we should be getting our vitamins from our foods, there are other certain ones that we’re simply not getting enough of.

The following are supplements I suggest for all psoriatic disease patients. I truly believe they will help target the root cause of your disease and also help make you feel so much better.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 targets and strengthens your central nervous system, and also happens to be used by every single cell in our bodies. Since our bodies naturally do not make Vitamin B12, we must make sure we get enough. That’s why, for me, taking a liquid Vitamin B12 supplement everyday is vital! Also, make sure that you’re taking it as methylcobalamin and/or adensylcobalamin. This is the type of B12 that your body will use and benefit from the most.

Zinc

Zinc is great for the immune system! That’s why people often turn to this as a supplement during cold season. The immune boost comes from Zinc acting as an anti-inflammatory agent. Viruses and other foreign invaders can throw off the body’s response to neurotoxins, and Zinc helps to regulate this response.

Taking zinc to better regulate our immune systems can give a lift to psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis sufferers since both conditions are rooted in chronic inflammation, and immune system dysfunction.

Omega 3’s

I strongly feel that we need Omega 3’s in our lives, but considering the growing concerns over possible contamination with toxins, I’ve begun to shy away from fish oil. I can’t wholeheartedly trust companies which are saying their products are safe, when I know how full of metals our seafood is. As an alternative, I’ve been taking a vegan omega, and feel as though I get more benefits from it.

There are several reasons for why I look for ways to continue to supplement with Omega 3 fatty acids: They’re anti-inflammatory and help to fortify the endocrine and nervous systems. They also help with insulin resistance and in the repair of areas within the nervous system that may have been damaged.

Turmeric

Turmeric has long been renowned for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic and anti-depressant properties. Some research suggests that it can help reduce inflammation and pain, strengthen the endocrine and central nervous system as well as support the circulatory system.

As a bonus, it may also aid in blood purification, improve liver function, help prevent cognitive diseases and speed up the healing of gastrointestinal disorders.

But if I can sell you on only one aspect of turmeric, let it be the way it can drastically improve inflammatory markers in your body.

N-Acetyl Cysteine

为了让我们的身体在提示顶端世鹏科技电子工作e, we need to ensure that it’s able to get rid of all the toxins and other waste. NAC, a precursor to glutathione, is a huge help in this process. Not only does it help with detoxification, but it also reduces inflammation and relieves pain. Ultimately, it’s a win + win + win!

L-Glutamine

This is a vital nutrient for rebuilding and repairing any damage to the intestines. And since as much as 75 to 80 percent of our immune system resides in our gut. Taking L-Glutamine can help to foster an environment in which our immune systems can stay more calm.

Probiotics

Probiotics are extremely helpful in providing balance to the gut’s ecosystem. The problem is that there are many different types, and science hasn’t fully determined which ones help with which condition. So my advice then is to go with one that contains a variety of strains. If you take them and don’t feel like you’re receiving any benefits, look for another product that has different strains.

Hawaiian Spirulina

Spirulina can be used to help rebuild the central nervous system and eliminate heavy metals. But overall, it’s one of the most nutritionally complete foods out there and contains many nutrients and antioxidants, including protein, complex carbohydrates, iron, and vitamins A, B complex and K. It’s also rich in chlorophyll, fatty and nucleic acids, lipids, GLA, beta carotene, iron, magnesium, trace minerals. Lastly, spirulina works to help support your gut flora by suppressing bad bacteria as well as increasing the body’s ability to absorb nutrients.

There are different ways you can take it. Some people go for spirulina powder and add it to their smoothies. I prefer the tablets because I don't like the taste personally.

Lemon Balm Tea

Lemon balm is not only antiviral and antibacterial, it also strengthens the immune system. It does this by killing viruses, bacteria and fungi that may be inflaming the intestinal tract and causing food allergies.

One of the best ways to take lemon balm is to consume it as a tea. So brew yourself up a cup of hot water, drop in a lemon balm tea bag and enjoy it while you unwind. It’s the perfect way to end your day!
